Solving Subtraction Problems using Equal Adjustment as a strategy! - Zac and Brandon.

PROBLEM: Elle went to the mall with $37.89 and brought a pair of skinny jeans for $10.50. How much money does she have left?
Step1: Listen to the word problem.
Step2: Make a maths equation: 37.89 - 10.50 =
Step3: Choose a strategy: Equal Adjustment.
Step4: Solve it.
37.89-10.50=
Subtract 0.50 from both sides.
So the new equation is:
37.39 - 10 = 27.39
Learning Tip: Always round the second number, this will make solving the problem mentally easier.
