Electronics

For our first Technology rotation we learnt about electronics. On the first day we learnt how to make a circuit. We used a very cool kit to learn how to build circuits. It is called the electroflash kit. It helped us to learn about electronic components as well. We used resistors - they slows the electric current down so it does not damage certain components. The LED is used to create light, but it is very energy efficient.

We also learnt how to use the soldering irons to solder wires together. A soldering iron heats up to about 200 degrees. That is very hot! You have to put on safety glasses first of all. Then you have to put the soldering iron down and keep it there for three seconds before you add the soldering wire. You then have to keep the soldering wire for three seconds before you remove it. Remember to keep the soldering iron in position to merge the two wires together. It is important to remember to place the soldering iron back in the stand. After all you don't want to burn yourself.

We made a low voltage tester and a trick device. A low voltage tester can be used on low voltage circuits to test for problems. A trick device can be used to play tricks on people.
