Young Leaders day!

YOUNG LEADERS DAY
On Thursday 19th May a small number of students from Reremoana attended the national young leaders day.
The students were nominated by our teachers. Approximately 750 other students from different schools attended too.
The speakers included Nick T a police officer, Dillion Boucher from the NZ Breakers team, Tumehe and Serena Rongunui, Pat Lam, The Laughing Samoans for some entertainment and Dave Atkinson a motivational speaker for schools. We also watched some special recorded messages from influential people like John Key, Brooke Fraser and Jason Gunn.
The Halogen Foundation wants to provide future leaders with the right values to make the right choices. All the messages given by the speakers were motivating and empowering making us realize that we can change things by developing great leadership skills.
All young people have the capacity to shine regardless of their race, gender, religion, rank or status.

On Thursday the 9th of may a group of year 7 and 8 students from Room 5 , 2 and 6 were selected to attend the National Young Leaders Day 2011(NYLD//11)at the ASB Show grounds.
The point of this day was to use motivational speakers to help us become better leaders. The motivational speakers were: Nick Tuitasi (ex-policeman) Dillon Boucher (Breakers and Pirates basketball player) Pat Bugley (St Johns ambulance volunteer and school speaker) Serena and Tuheme (What Now) Pat Lam ( Blues rugby coach) and Dave Atkinson (Attitude school speaker). Other than these speakers we also had entertainment such as playing with giant volleyballs and a live skit by comedians “The Laughing Samoans”
Overall it was a fun and educational day and inspired me to become a better leader and make better choices . I am sure I can say the same for the other students that attended this awesome day. Hopefully all of our year 7 and 8 students will have an opportunity like this.

National Young Leaders Day was a great chance for 15 Young Leaders from Reremoana School to go to the Logan Campbell centre for a day to listen to 5 different speakers. All of the speakers told us about different aspects to be a good leader. It was a great experience as it has changed plenty of decisions I make in my life. I really enjoyed listening to all the Speakers they told us how to be a good honest leader. I would definitely LOVE to have another opportunity like this again. This taught me a lot.
