Samantha - describing Wattle Downs!

Term 4 Athletics!

This term we have athletics as part of our PE and team sports program. Students get taught the skills and techniques to be able to compete not only at school, but also the Central Counties athletics day at Jellicoe Park in Manurewa on the 16 November.

We had trials in all the events at school during fitness and PE time. That includes the following events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500, Long Jump, High Jump, Discus throw and Shot Put.

Hopefully our students will do well on the 16th November.

Good Luck everyone!

We like reading!

Novel Study
We had to complete a novel study. This consisted of: Choosing a suitable novel, writing a journal at the end of every chapter (about the chapter). We had to write about connections we could make with the text, write a summery of the chapter, write a prediction of what would happen next and set questions (Think and search, author and me, right there and on my own).
We then presented a chart to use to report to the class about our novels. We wrote character descriptions, about the conflicts in the book, a plot summery and information about the author.
To complete all of this we needed to spend most of the time reading and trying to stay up-to-date with their journal entries and not lag behind. Fortunately, everyone did complete this and everyone shared their charts to the class. Most people learnt to keep up-to-date and realised that reading is not in fact hard, it’s fun and easy! We also reflected that the mistakes we made this year will be improved on next year.
